We are hosting a contractor networking event for upcoming river projects!
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The City of Grand Rapids today announced a River Corridor Contractor Networking Event, Tuesday, Oct. 15. The event, 4 to 6 p.m. at Southwest Middle/High School, 327 Rumsey St SW, Grand Rapids, aims to connect potential prime contractors with potential subcontractors for several upcoming city projects. The City encourages ALL construction contractors to attend and participate.
Contractors who attend will learn about future bidding opportunities on multiple projects ranging from $300,000 to $20 million, with a total value exceeding $50 million in City of Grand Rapids work.
“With the City having a number of important projects going out for bid in the next few months, we are interested in fostering connections between prime contractors and skilled trade contractors.” said Michael Staal, project manager in the City’s Engineering Department. “By bringing together prime contractors and subcontractors ahead of the start of these solicitations, we plan to ensure the successful execution of these city projects.”
At the event, Staal said he will outline a variety of river corridor projects requiring contractor expertise, including heavy civil works projects, and parks and facility renovations. The City is seeking a wide range of trades for these projects, including but not limited to:
- Building Demolition
- Concrete and Masonry
- Earthwork and Landscaping
- Water Services
- Storm and Sanitary Sewers
- Site Electrical
- Specialty Metals and Signage
Contractors interested in attending this free event are encouraged to register ahead of time by scanning the QR code on the event flyer or visiting grandrapidsmi.gov/rcne2024. Walk-in registration will also be available.. Spanish translators will be available at the event. Complimentary food also will be provided.
